2002 Preseaon:  Riders convinced Mallett to come out of retirement after losing S Stephane Fortin to free agency and S Shawn Gallant to the Ottawa Renegades expansion draft.  Always known more for his coverage than toughness, Mallett has adapted to playing the safety spot from his more natural cornerback spot.
