Pos: QB Hometown: Glendale, Arizona 2002 Preseason: Fighting for a backup spot behind starter QB Nealon Greene. Beasley saw a little bit of action last season, but not enough to make any sort of lasting impression. 2001 Regular Season: Cut by Green Bay Packers after losing a battle to QB Henry Burris and then joined Roughriders mid-way through the season as an injury replacement for QB Marvin Graves. Big, strong quarterback who runs well and has a good arm. Good scrambler and has some creativity. Has a quick release and a strong arm to make most throws, but passes can be off-target at times. Needs to learn to read pro defenses after playing on a simplified offence that relied on his athletic ability more than on their schemes. Posesses good poise and leadership. Led Kansas State to a 20-4 record as a starter, and finished off his college career by beating Tennessee Volunteers in 2001 Cotton Bowl. Rated the second-best running quarterback in 2001 draft, right behind Virginia Tech QB Michael Vick. Fading back: Beasley drops back to pass. Bulling through: Beasley carries the ball like a runningback. Back to pass: Beasley winding up to make the throw.
Make way!: Beasley takes off with the football. In Riderville: Beasley practising with his new team. |
