2002 Preseason:  Had a very solid rookie season with the Roughriders in 2001.  Was searching for option-year NFL opportunities during the offseason, but didn't come up with any, which is good news for the Roughriders.   Part of a solid Roughrider secondary in 2002.

2001 Regular Season:  Had a very close battle with veteran DB Marcus McDavid in training camp at defensive halfback and just beat McDavid out.  Riders love his physical play.  They also love his size and can use Evans as a backup to LB George White and LB Jackie Mitchell.

College:  Spent last season with Seattle Seahawks as a free agent after being overlooked in 2000 NFL draft.  Good defensive back at small Howard University who was highly coveted prior to the draft.  Was a first team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference selection in his senior year.  High school teammate of Seattle Seahawks CB Shawn Springs.  Evans and Springs nominated their high school teacher, Joyce Amatucci, for NFL Teacher of the Year.
