2002 Preseason:  Originally signed with the Philadelphia Eagles over the offseason, but had a change of heart and asked for his release.  He got it and re-signed with the Roughriders a few weeks later.   Riders are glad to have Mitchell back, especially since they lost LB George White to the Green Bay Packers.  With White expected to make the Packers, Mitchell's presence will be needed.

2001 Preseason:  Will be under tremendous pressure to win a starting spot on roster this season, especially with DB Eddie Davis coming on board.

2000:  Post training camp signing after trying out with Edmonton Eskimos.  Riders would like to use him at defensive half.  Tried out with Miami Dolphins in 1999.  Played well in the beginning, but had trouble playing man-to-man against some of the better slotbacks in the league.

College:  Two-sport athlete at Southern.  Came to Southern on a basketball scholarship and only started playing football in his junior year.  Not to be confused with two other Jackie Mitchell basketball players at Southern, one on the men's team, the other on the women's team.
